About
Phoebe's Pretty Pretty Good mix captured our attention whilst we were on the move travelling by train to London. The discovery was a magical one whereby when you travel and listen to music it creates a special focus and feel for what you can hear. The Manchester / London based artist has been doing some exciting stuff recently having warmed up for DJ Stingray and also PPG at Dimensions Festival. Heading up B.L.O.O.M. an all women DJ collective based in Manchester, Phoebe Valentine has spent the last year playing alongside the likes of Joe, Paula Temple and Courtesy to name a few. Her numerous radio appearances on Limbo Radio and Reform Radio showcase a collection that ranges from minimal synth and weirdo chuggers up to '94 jungle rollers, and all the tripped out techno, electro and house in-between. Her electric energy, broken beat mixing will be joining us next week at Number 90 Bar & Kitchen, a new place we have come together with to create something new and fresh! https://soundcloud.com/ppgsound/ppgmix034-phoebe-valentine
We also have a selection of Sisu residents joining the bill - Lauryn Lauryn has been listening and appreciating music since she can remember. She is a born and bred Londoner from punk roots and as a teenager found the world of dance music through the diverse London scene. After appreciating genres like Techno, House, Jungle, Drum N Bass, Leftfield, Jazz, Reggae, Punk and Ska, she enrolled on the ‘Scratch’ DJ course at the Southbank center. Since then she has been experimenting with Djing, music production and has played events at Hackney Showroom, Womb 2, WOW - Women of the World Festival and Noisily Festival of Music & Arts 2019. She is a resident DJ at Sisu, which is an artistic community supporting unknown artists and diversity within the scene. As part of this collective, she has hosted radio shows on 199radio. https://soundcloud.com/harperworkz/home-alone-mix
Malissa - One hell of a scouser, DJ, teacher and radio show host. Malissa’s sets blend eerie ambience with intriguing rhythms, often filled with potent percussion. She had a busy summer with more workshops, radio shows and gigs - some highlights include playing alongside Violent Blondes at BIRTHDAYS, Max Graef in Liverpool, her Loose Lips mix series, Noisily Festival of Music & Arts 2019 and Boomtown Fair. Catch her warming up for Derrick May next month at The Cause for the 199radio pre-party! https://soundcloud.com/loose-lips123/loose-lips-mix-series-151-malissa?in=malissa08/sets/podcasts
MEACH - An integral part of SISU, creating and bringing ambition within the group. Her direction in the collective and her own music are something that captivates her musical passion. MEACH mixes with sleek transitions and will be sure to take you on a beautifully composed journey. Catch her warming up for Derrick May next month at The Cause for the 199radio pre-party! https://soundcloud.com/meachdj/meach-may-radio-show-199radio
